Prerequisites and Admission Criteria
There are two streams in our program; the southern stream based in Hamilton and the northern stream based in Thunder Bay. Each has a separate CaRMS application process.
Selection Criteria
Residents should have an interest in pediatrics with a commitment to consultative academic or subspecialty practice, rather than primary care. As a mid-sized program there is significant opportunity for independence in the program, as well as flexibility and some experiences. There is an emphasis on team experience on the general pediatric ward. Residents are given greater responsibility as they progress from PGY1 to the PGY4 period. Successful candidates should demonstrate clinical competence, good communication skills, have a keen interest in child health and have serious commitment to the care of children.
